Local Artist Michael McNabney will be exhibiting his Pet Portraits at the All Creatures Great And Small exhibit opening on Earth Day, April 22, 2017 at 6:00 PM. Michael began the project after he was awarded an artist residency and traveled to the village of Polknovik Serafimovo, Bulgaria. On a walk through the village he met a dog, he had no idea at the time she was an abandoned dog that had been rescued and given shelter by “Little Angels Rescue BG”; who had apparently gone on a walk of her own away from the shelter. In time he was invited on a sunrise dog walk in the mountains by some people that were taking care of the animals at Little Angels Rescue. To his surprise, there was the same dog leading the pack. Michael was told “Fliss” had “escaped” a few days earlier, and then returned. Fliss had been at the animal rescue for five months waiting for adoption. Michael’s family had a safe and loving home for her but no funds for the costly transportation and expense to adopt here in the U.S. Michael reached out through GoFundMe to help bring Fliss home. In return for donations at different levels he offers original artwork as an expression of gratitude. Custom oil on canvas pet portraits, drawings of your pet, and hand printed and signed numbered block prints are available as a thank you gifts. https://www.gofundme.com/adopting-fliss-transport-fund-2vmux9g.
